In 2011 a draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) was issued by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in response to a Right-of-Way application submitted by the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) for construction and operation of a pipeline system and associated infrastructure to support the proposed future conveyance of groundwater to Las Vegas Valley from five hydrologic basins in East-central Nevada. This page contains certain informtion and actions taken by the Great Basin Water Network (GBWN) in responce to the referenced EIS.

August 03, 2012 — Notice of Availability of the Final Environmental Impact Statement, Including a Programmatic Agreement, for the Clark, Lincoln, and White Pine Counties Groundwater Development Project, Nevada
The BLM has announced the availability of the Final EIS on the SNWA "Groundwater Project" as of Aug. 3, 2012. The BLM has a Preferred alternative of "F" which was created after the Draft EIS was released and commented on. The BLM will not issue a final decision, called the "Record of Decision", for 60 days. That decision for 60 days. That decision could come then as soon as September 27, 2012.

December 2010 — U.S. BLM NV Groundwater Projects Update
This BLM Newsletter details the upcoming Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Southern Nevada Water Authority's proposed massive water export project. The Newsletter describes the alternatives which will be considered in the DEIS and the alternatives rejected for consideration (many of them supported by the hundreds of comments the BLM received on the SNWA project). Essential reading for those opposed to the project to take over 200,000 acre-feet of water each year from the dry valleys of eastern Nevada and western Utah.
